Top Day on the Dee
Home Up Top Day on the Dee Conwy Crusin

What the boys (and a couple of the girls) did this weekend.

After an epic round of spending on Saturday by the canoe club in the Kayaks

Northwest paddling emporium it was decided to arrange a trip to use some

nice new shiny kit on Sunday. Wales it was decided would be ideal venue for

such a venture.

Before all that canoeing malarky everyone felt the need to go out for a

couple of beers in order to celebrate the Irish denial of an English Grand

Slam - well done those boys in Green!! After some persuasion the older

members of the club eventually agreed to join the young pups down the

Footage and Firkin. Yet again the Footage was full of conservatively

dressed society ladies who weren't in any way up for it. The Footage also

saw the first ever performance of the "Dan Dance" - a new routine which I

think will become very popular this year.

We left early on Sunday morning in order to maximise paddling time,

unfortunately this was ballsed up by Kate and Jamie who decided to get out

of bed a WHOLE FUCKIN hour after everyone else. At our arranged meeting

point at the Dee we got chatting to some scare mongering locals who seemed

to reckon that all the rivers were flooded out of control. After some

deliberation it was decided to go to the Conway. We drove the twenty miles

to the river only to find on arrival that it was lower than any of us had

ever paddled it. PISSIN LOCAL KNOWLEDGE. It was then decided to scoot back

to the Dee and paddle that as a reliable informant had told me that the main

white water section was open for paddling.

We were entertained at the Serpents Tail put in by Jamie who spent about 10

minutes blowing yellow chunks every where. We were also entertained by a

fine display of cartwheels and stalls from Dave Walker and Swatton who

seemed to be defying the laws of physics with their endless ends. As we

moved through the Tail some sweet playspots were found - not the epic flood

waves and holes of last year but still more than enough to entertain. Wonky

and Swatton again entertained us with surfs spins and an aerial blunt. When

we hit the nomad site the boys started to go off big style with spins and

big air being the order of the day. The move to go for was the loop with

some very near misses being had. The beast also seemed to invent an new

move of his own which was weird but spectacular. I think that we should

call it the "Beast Feast".

The day finished with my favourite move - a Moons curry. I managed to put

together a spectacular sequence of meat samosas into an Aerial Lamb Tikka

Karahi finished with a clean 540 keema nan. All in all a pretty sweet day.

If you want to get involved in any of these activities bring your lazy ass

down the canoe club. If your already in the canoe club and haven't yet got

yourself involved why the fuck not.

Catch you later
